Face the Fear.

Here we are at day seven.
Officially one week into the challenge!!

Today's topic is fear.
What is it that I'm most afraid of.

Ugh, this topic is so depressing to talk about. hah!
But I'll try and keep it as light as possible.
Maybe.

one.

If you read my post the other day you will remember that one of my biggest fears is open water.
Not just the ocean. Oh no, that would be wayyy too easy.
It's pretty much any open water you can think of unless it's a pool
And even that used to be scary.
When I was a little kid I used to get scared when I swam by the filters in public pools.
I don't know what I was thinking.
I guess I thought something would swim out of it and attack me.

two.

Dying.
Not dying when I'm like 90 and I've lived my whole life.
Dying now and not living to see all the awesome things that life still has to offer me.

Ok, it's so cheesy but in the movie A Walk to Remember,
when the guy (what is his name in that movie?!)  finds out the girl is dying he asks her if she's scared
and she responds with, "I'm scared of not being with you."
I never understood that line until I met Jeremie.

I actually remember thinking,
she's going to be dead! She doesn't have to worry about being without him!
Super sensitive, right?
But now I totally get it.
I never want to leave my husband behind or this life.

three.

Loss.
My family is amazing.
There's not much to say about this one.
I just don't know how I would go on with my life after losing any member of my family,
or one of my friends, or my dogs.

four.

The dentist.
Yup, I saved the best one for last.
I'm terrified of the dentist and anything involving teeth.
Which can be a big problem when you work with little kids
because they are constantly coming up to me and showing me their gross wiggly teeth.
I get it. It's really exciting for them.
But it makes me want to puke.
And I get all creeped out and feel that creepy crawly feeling you get when something grosses you out.
Ugh! I hate teeth!

So that's it. Those are my biggest fears.
Two legitimate fears and two totally ridiculous, irrational ones.

Tomorrow's everyday in May topic is - A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.

  1. Number two is the best!!! Is that awful to say about a serious fear of yours? I think that is so sweet and I can completely relate!
And the dentist, I hate so much too! I think it's because of all of my tooth problems growing up, but seriously it's the worst!
P.S. I owe you an e-mail tonight, don't worry, I will get it to you!

  2. Hm, I have a strange fear of high places. You know that dream of falling? Yep...that's me. I had to talk myself into going into the arch in St. Louis and the mini Eiffel Tower at 6 flags.

I totally get your fear of losing someone but I suppose because I lost my father at such a young age I just pick the wrong men so they leave me before they die. Strange really the way we find to handle things.

As for the dentist...please don't ask me how many years its been. I am going to have to go soon. I don't want to. Hate it! ;(
