Surprise!! Surprise!!

My blog got a makeover!!!

I've been working with Kayla for quite some time now on this new blog design and she did a fantastic job!  Don't you think?!  So before I get into my amazing weekend recap I wanna take a second to highlight her.

I love my blog.  And I mean LOVE.  Like a fat kid loves cake...that's how I love my blog.
And what do you do to something you love?
You dress it up.  Make it look pretty.  Show it off.
So that's what I decided to do.  The problem was....

I'm broke.

But I was determined.  So I started researching and there are a lot of great blog designers out there.  Kayla stood out to me because...

one. She has an awesome blog that I love to read.
two.  She does some really amazing blog designs.
three.  She's totally affordable.

She was great every step of the way and I loved working with her.  If you're looking to spiff up your blog a little, I would 100% recommend her.

Ok, now onto my weekend and man, what a weekend it was.  It was packed but almost all of it was in a good way.  Ok, the three hours of school work I did yesterday was not in any way, shape or form exciting but the rest of the weekend was A-OK.

As usual, I think the weekend is best expressed in photos.

On Saturday, we were part of a great event to honor my home town, Sandy Hook.

The Sandy Hook Run for the Families took place in Hartford and had 15,000 people participating.  It was actually originally scheduled for a different town, closer to Newtown but it had to be moved due to the overwhelming size!  On top of the crazy amount of participants, about 30,000 people turned out to line the streets and cheer us all on.  Almost $500,000 was raised!

After almost four months, the outpouring of love still brings tears to my eyes.
There are no words that I can say to express my emotions when I see so many people supporting our community.

Amazing.

This is our team, "06482 Family".
We're missing a couple of our members here because we got separated during the race.
We. Were. Awesome.
'Nuff said.

After the race we headed home.  If you read my post about last weekend, you know we've been trying to make a decision on how to solve our car problems.
As of Saturday we still hadn't solved anything.

Over the past two weeks we've be from....

'Let's fix Jeremie's car.'

'No, that seems pointless.'

'Let's buy a used car.'

'That seems kinda stupid too.'

'Let's lease.'

'Well, if we're going to pay $200 a month, we should at least be paying to own.'

'Let's buy a new car.'

So that's what we did.
WE BOUGHT A CAR!!!

It's pretty crazy to think that we actually just drove this baby home because we really didn't think Jeremie would be getting a new car for at least a year.  But hey, you just gotta do what's right for you and we both agreed that this was the best decision.

Thank you to everyone who left comments last week giving us advice on leasing!  We seriously took everything and every option into account before making our decision.

And finally, we are saying goodbye to an old friend.

That's right.  Our '94 Honda Civic will be going to a better home soon.
This was my very first car.  I remember the day we went to look at it and the test drive and how much I wanted it as a 16 year old!

And then, when I got my new car in 2009, Jeremie happened to be in need of a car so he bought the old man.  So, it's been in the family for a while and we're really going to miss it (and by 'we' I actually mean me because I'm pretty sure Jeremie was sick and tired of dealing with it).

It's a little sentimental to me but it's time to move on to bigger and better things.
So long old friend.
You'll be fondly missed!

So that was my weekend and I'm exhausted.
How was ya'll's weekend?
I'd love to hear about it!
